About Doug
Thanks for taking a second to learn a little more about me, clearly you have an abundance of time on your hands.
I owe my entire design career to Dave Chapman and a bootlegged copy of photoshop he gave me back in 2002. I had done some hobby designing- some paint shop pro, front page, photoshop- but I had no clue what design really was, let alone the first thing about color theory, best practices, or accessibility. One fateful day, Dave gave me that disc and a handful of filters to start experimenting with. Slowly he taught me the tricks that helped him make a living as a designer and developer.
Eventually, through trial and error, I learned enough that I landed my first real paying gig- designing web templates for a not-for-profit web hosting agency (I am not kidding). I recieved the princely sum of 7.50 an hour for this job.
Through the generosity of one person, sharing his time with me, I gained the knowledge that has formed a career and supported me full time since 2004.
When not making pretties on my computer I spend my time writing, performing stand up comedy, hiking, camping, painting, sculpting, traveling, enjoying fine beers and spirits, watching bad "b" movies and counting on both hands all the amazing people in my life.
